Three members of the PHOENIX team – Soner Barthoma (UU), Ali Kharazzi (IAII) and Susan Beth Rottmann (Ozyegin University) attended the Sustainability Research and Innovation (SRI) Congress in Panama City between June 25-29. The SRI Congress is a transdisciplinary gathering for the global sustainability community and is a joint initiative of Future Earth and the Belmont Forum. The congress features presentations from researchers, government representatives, civil society experts, funders and innovators.
PHOENIX members met with representatives of Future Earth and the Belmont Forum, learned about grant reporting and plans for future engagement with funders. The most exciting outcome of the event was meeting members of two other teams funded under the same Collaborative Research Action “Migration 2022: Integrated Approaches to Human Migration/Mobility in an Era of Rapid Global Change:” CLIMB: A worldwide study in Africa and Beyond: Big Data and Predictive Analytics and Climate Change Network: International migration, climate change and network effects. PHOENIX is planning to collaborate closely with these consortium surrounding a variety of activities, such as database creation, workshops and dissemination activities.
